Starting STEM education early sets students up for educational success in and out of the STEM subjects. With the critical thinking, creative problem solving, and logical reasoning skills learned through early STEM fluency, young learners are able to adapt more quickly and embrace the world around them with curiosity and confidence.
Having access to STEM education is so important, but it’s not just a matter of having a couple STEM kits and activities. All the way through elementary school and middle school, students need access to full STEM programming curriculum in order to truly build STEM identity and technology fluency. That’s why Kid Spark Education is designed to not only provide STEM kits, but a full program focused on giving students progressive education that builds every single year.
For elementary school students, it is paramount that they get STEM education early and consistently throughout their education. A key way to add STEM learning to early education is using STEM kits. That’s why, at Kid Spark Education we’re happy to offer our STEM Labs for students in elementary school and beyond. We want to help foster a love of problem solving and scientific thinking that can support students throughout their lives.
Having a STEM curriculum available in afterschool programs is more important than ever, especially since there is such a demand for afterschool programs. Youth.gov finds that nearly 10.2 million children and youth participate in afterschool programs annually, with that number growing every year. However, many parents are facing obstacles to getting childcare and important learning experiences to their students after school. America After 3pm reports in their survey of parents at rural schools that:
For students in Kindergarten through the 8th grade, getting STEM education early and consistently throughout their education is deeply important. That’s why, at Kid Spark Education we’re happy to offer STEM Labs for students in PreK-8. We want to help foster a love of problem solving and scientific thinking that can support students throughout their lives. Because STEM is such an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to learning, it engages kids in meaningful and collaborative work that mirrors real life.
Working with educational institutions all over, at Kid Spark Education, we’re always thrilled to see engaged and thriving elementary school STEM classrooms. That’s because for us, STEM isn't a buzzword— it's a powerful way to nurture students' natural curiosity, build confidence inside the classroom and out, and foster collaborative problem solving.
Having opportunities for hands-on learning is essential for any 6th Grade STEM curriculum, which is why we’re so glad to be able to offer our STEM Pathways Lab to allow students entering Middle School to explore concepts in structural & mechanical engineering, physics, rapid prototyping & 3D printing, computer science, and robotics.
According to a 2020 study sponsored by Code.org, fewer than half of US schools offer a computer science curriculum. With students facing a more technological future, getting STEM training throughout their educational journey is more important than ever. That’s why, at Kid Spark Education, we’re passionate about providing our Middle School STEM program to help students develop important critical thinking skills. In our 6th - 8th Grade STEM Program, students explore challenging STEM concepts from their everyday world, authoring with technology to solve problems and create new solutions. By providing hands-on engineering and computer science education, our STEM labs give students a strategic gateway for students to learn disciplines and develop a strong STEM identity. When children can construct their sense of math and science with relatable projects, when they learn through their mistakes and succeed through persistence, they develop a growth mindset towards STEM.
The M in STEM, Mathematics, is absolutely crucial to any school’s STEM program. Just as our programs at Kid Spark Education support engineering, technology, and science, focusing on your school’s STEM math curriculum is paramount for setting up students for success.
Continuing our mission to provide STEM learning opportunities for students in pre-kindergarten through the 8th grade, we’re thrilled to announce updated versions of our two STEM programs. These programs are equipped with a variety of reusable engineering materials that range from basic building blocks to programmable robotics.
